The day before New Year's Eve, I had the pleasure of being invited to an epic food event at a friend's place. He was going to cook a turducken.
A turducken is a chicken stuffed into a duck stuffed into a turkey with bacon on top and layered inside with stuffing. STOMACH EXPLOSION.
(One life goal down).
There's no bones in it as all the birds are de-boned, so it's just layers upon layers of meat and stuffing. If you google it you'll find nice pictures showing you the insides and what it looks like.
I was only there for the end of it when there was only a few bits of meat left, but I had my brother take some shots for me!
The turducken bought all the way in Hornsby, wrapped in plastic and with instructions on how to cook this 5kg beast of carnivorous gluttony.
Onto a tray it goes with 1L of chicken stock, where it stays for roughly 4 hours in the oven with regular basting using a maple and butter syrup near the end.
And 4hrs later...
Oozing with fatty goodness...om nom nom.
Once cooked, everyone swarms to get good portions of the meat, leaving some unfortunate patient people with large amounts of stuffing (hence the negative opinions on it). I managed to score some meat left behind, so I thought it was delicious. The stuffing had sultanas in it, which I liked! But considering the turducken cost $100 and most of it was stuffing rather than meat, it's one of those things you try once and probably never try again.

Other food included Moroccan spiced sausages, roast potatoes, salads and an extra roast chicken in case the turducken wasn't enough.
The rest of the evening consisted of Blazblue, Risk and Singstar because we're all gaming nerds. We're super hardcore like that.
